Liangong is a health exercise system that combines orthopedic science and sports medicine. The entire Liangong system consists of 3 series of 18 specially designed exercises to enable the practitioner to develop the ability to self-heal the body (joints, limbs, organs, and bodily functions). The first series of 18 Liangong exercises addresses chronic pain in the neck, shoulders, arms, back, hips, knees, and feet. This four-week course will introduce the student to body shaking and meditation to relax the body and connect the mind at the beginning of each class. Week 1 will introduce the first 6 exercises for preventing and relieving aching neck and shoulders. Week 2 will review the first 6 exercises and introduce exercises 7 -12 which prevent and relieve backache. Week 3 will review the first 12 exercises and introduce the last 6 exercises which prevent and relieve hip and leg pain. Week 4 all 18 exercises are reviewed as a whole, and participants leave with a handout explaining all 18 exercises. All four classes end with swinging the arms and massaging the face.
